In a village of Upper Egypt, Christine lived with her family. Her father, a hardworking daily laborer, and her mother provided all they could despite their limited means. Christine shared a special bond with her older sister, her confidante and only friend.
Christine was born with a cleft lip, a condition that affected her appearance and speech. Growing up, she learned to hide her pain behind quiet glances and folded hands—except when she was with her sister, she could laugh, cry, and talk freely.
Though her dad worked tirelessly every day, he could not afford the surgery to correct his daughter’s cleft lip. The cost was 86,000 EGP, which was beyond what the family could bear. But in the summer of 2024, hope pierced through. Through the Month of Mercy Campaign by Care 4 Needy Copts (C4NC), Christine’s condition found its way to compassionate hearts. C4NC stepped in and covered the full cost of Christine’s cleft lip surgery.
Full of hope, Christine and her family traveled five hours to Misr Al-Mahabba Hospital. The surgery was a success. When Christine looked into the mirror afterward, she didn’t just see her reflection—she saw the smile she had long imagined, now looking back at her.
Returning to her village, Christine held her head higher. Her dream was to pursue science, just like her sister. This dream came true when she was accepted into Science College, starting in September 2024 on a scholarship provided by C4NC.
As Christine completed her first year of college, she returned once more to the hospital in June 2025 for the second stage of her journey—surgery to repair a fistula. Once again, C4NC was there, making sure that hope never left her side.
Christine journey isn’t over—but it is a testament to what love, faith, and a helping hand can do.
