Education Breaks the Cycle of Poverty

Care 4 Needy Copts firmly believes that education is the most powerful foundation for breaking the poverty cycle and building a stronger, more empowered future for the Coptic community in Egypt.

“By investing in their education, we are investing in the future of the Coptic community.”

Many gifted Coptic students in Egypt score high marks and earn their place at university, yet never walk through the doors. The reason is not lack of talent or ambition, but the crushing weight of financial hardship that makes even modest tuition fees insurmountable.

Our College Scholarship Program bridges that gap. We identify students who demonstrate both academic promise and genuine financial need, then provide direct financial support that covers tuition and essential educational expenses for a full academic year, renewable for the duration of their studies.

What the Scholarship Covers

  • University tuition fees
  • Required textbooks and course materials

How the Program Works

Our process is designed to be transparent, fair, and accessible to every eligible student, no matter where they live in Upper Egypt.

01

Student Outreach & Application

Our representatives in Egypt actively identify high-potential students and invite them to apply. Candidates then submit a scholarship application along with:

  • Academic records and transcripts.

  • Financial documentation proving need.

  • A personal statement outlining career goals.

02

Holistic Application Review

Our committee reviews every application individually. We evaluate candidates based on three core pillars:

  • Academic achievement and dedication.

  • Demonstrated financial need.

  • Strong character and future leadership potential.

03

Selection & Award Notification

Selected students receive a personal notification. We match recipients with a dedicated sponsor.

04

Direct Fund Disbursement

To ensure uninterrupted access to education, scholarship funds are paid directly to the student or the institution at the start of each academic term.

05

Annual Scholarship Renewal

This is a multi-year opportunity. Students can easily renew their funding for each subsequent year until graduation by maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

06

Graduation & Giving Back

We build leaders. We encourage our graduates to become mentors and advocates, continuing a powerful cycle of empowerment within the Coptic community.

Eligibility Criteria

We seek students who are both deserving and determined, young Copts who have the talent to succeed in higher education but lack the financial means to get there.

✦ Eligibility Criteria for Selected Students

Once a student is identified by our representatives, they must meet the following baseline criteria:

  • Residency: Must be a Coptic Christian student currently residing in Egypt.

  • Enrollment: Must be accepted or currently enrolled at an accredited Egyptian university.

  • Financial Need: Must demonstrate severe financial hardship (verified via household income documentation).

  • Academic Record: Must hold a strong academic track record from high school.

✦ Selection Priorities

Our committee evaluates invited candidates based on:

  • Severity of financial hardship (our highest priority).

  • Sustained effort and resilience despite adversity.

  • Academic achievement and future leadership potential.

  • Personal character and a commitment to serving the community.

  • Endorsement from a local church leader or servant.

✦ Next Steps: Required Documents

Chosen candidates will be asked by their representative to provide the following materials to finalize their funding:

  • Completed scholarship application form (provided by the representative).

  • Official high school or university transcripts.

  • Proof of university acceptance or enrollment.

  • Financial need statement with official family income documentation.

  • One letter of recommendation from a church leader or servant.

  • A personal statement (500–800 words) describing their educational goals and circumstances.

✦ Renewal Requirements

To maintain their selected status and secure ongoing funding, scholars must meet these annual benchmarks:

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress each year.

  • Submit an annual renewal application with updated transcripts.

  • Show continued, documented financial need.

  • Participate in regular program check-ins and community mentorship.

The Ripple Effect of One Scholarship

A single scholarship does not just change one life; it changes families, communities, and the future of the entire Coptic presence in Egypt.

A Degree, A Future

Egyptian households with a university-educated member are significantly less likely to fall below the poverty line across generations.

Higher Education

Copts are underrepresented in Egypt’s professions. Scholarships help build a stronger Coptic presence in medicine, law, technology, and more.

Families Lifted

When a young Coptic graduate enters the workforce, their earnings support parents, siblings, and the wider church community for decades.

Community Strengthened

Empowered, educated Coptic leaders strengthen the church, advocate for their rights, and preserve their identity and heritage for future generations.

“These scholarships not only alleviate the financial burden — they inspire hope and ignite ambition in talented individuals who may otherwise never have the chance to fulfill their dreams.”
