Egypt
Egypt is located in Northeast Africa along the Mediterranean Sea. It shares borders with Libya and Sudan. It encompasses a significant stretch of the Nile River, which flows from Ethiopia to the Mediterranean Sea.
According to the World Meter, Egypt’s population is approximately 114 million, with about 10 million living in Cairo, Egypt’s capital. The national language is Arabic, and although the entire population can speak it, there is a 17.9% illiteracy rate as of 2021 (2021 Labor Force Survey Data).

Egyptian law significantly influences religious freedom within the country. The majority of Egypt’s population (approximately 90%) practices Islam, while the remaining population practices minority faiths, such as Christianity.
Egypt has a rich history of political turmoil and social unrest, contributing to significant disparities between its upper and lower classes. According to a report showing the disparities between the rich and poor of Egypt, these gaps became even more pronounced during and after the pandemic, with poverty levels soaring to 81.7% in Egypt’s impoverished rural areas—an area inhabited by over half of Egypt’s population, as reported by UNICEF.
The Coptic minority has borne the brunt of political instability and unrest, experiencing significant marginalization. They face underrepresentation in government and encounter limited opportunities for advancement in various sectors, including education and careers. Those living in rural areas, particularly in Upper Egypt, grapple with heightened levels of poverty.
C4NC / Egypt
We, at Care 4 Needy Copts (C4NC), are honored to serve as a nonprofit organization (section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) in close collaboration with the Shepherd and Mother of Light (SML), under the esteemed leadership of Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Bishop Julius, General Bishop of Old Cairo Churches and Episcopal Services. By our close partnership, we are dedicated to upholding the noble values of compassion and service in all our endeavors.

C4NC was started in 2007 when SML, a charitable foundation based in Egypt, invited a group of servants from the U.S. to witness the distressing environment the Christian population of Egypt suffers. This visit ignited our passion to pursue the cause and advocate awareness in the U.S. The inhumane conditions and extreme poverty became our drive to establish C4NC for the sole purpose of supporting the needy Coptic population of Egypt.
C4NC was founded with the aim of assisting our fellow brothers and sisters in Egypt who confront various challenges. Our goal is to guarantee their access to fundamental necessities for leading dignified lives. With the support of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is dedicated to creating a secure environment for Coptic families, we embarked on our mission to improve their quality of life and contribute to Egypt’s prosperity and flourishing.
