Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Shepherd and Mother of Light (SML) was founded in Egypt in 1995 by dedicated individuals committed to making a positive impact on the Coptic communities in Upper Egypt. In 2007, members of SML traveled to the United States to raise awareness about the challenges faced by needy Copts in Egypt. Their presentation captured the attention of several philanthropic individuals which led to the establishment of C4NC as a means to represent SML in the U.S. and to streamline the donation process for SML donors.

SML/C4NC has a strong relationship with the Coptic Church. His Holiness Pope Tawadros has always blessed and supported the services provided by SML/C4NC. There is respectful and transparent communication between SML/C4NC and the church leaders, which builds trust and a sense of shared purpose. We are recognized as equal partners who bring unique strengths to the Coptic community.

SML engages dedicated local volunteers who actively visit communities to identify and present cases to our C4NC assessment team. We focus on individuals living below the poverty line, ensuring that C4NC helps as many as possible within our budget. Your support can help us expand our reach and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

C4NC has a board of seven members in the U.S. including four officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  SML has a board of five members in Egypt. Both boards work together to serve the needy Copts in Egypt.  Click HERE to view the bios of the C4NC/SML board members.

Yes! Care 4 Needy Copts is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ensuring your contributions are fully tax-deductible. Our tax identification number is 26-1178932. Each year, we take great care to prepare individual donor tax statements and promptly send them to all of our generous donors by the end of January.

Yes! C4NC offers two impactful ways for donors to contribute: restricted donations (through our various campaigns throughout the year) and general donations.

When you make a restricted donation, you support a specific vital program, such as medical services, income projects, special needs, education, or construction. Your contribution will directly enhance these essential services.

General donations provide flexibility, allowing SML/C4NC to allocate funds where they are needed most. This means your support can quickly address urgent needs and opportunities as they arise.
