From Arlington, VA to the villages of Luxor
On Sunday, September 15th, Care 4 Needy Copts representatives visited St Timothy and St Athanasios Coptic Church in Arlington, VA (STSA) in order to support their upcoming mission trip.
The purpose of the visit was to relay to the congregation the role of The Shepherd and Mother of Light (SML) in aiding the needy of our brothers and sisters in Egypt.
Their mission trip, which will take place in December 2024, was not the first; a group from the church had visited the field before and had a successful and great experience, so they decided to go again.
Upon our arrival, the C4NC team was met with a warm and heartfelt welcome from the church’s congregation. From the moment we entered the church premises, we were greeted with genuine smiles and kind words of encouragement.
After attending the liturgy, Fr. Anthony Messeh invited us to give the presentation.

The presentation captured the audience’s attention. We witnessed their excitement about the Holistic service the SML offers to people in need in Egypt.
Following the C4NC presentation, Mrs. Marsil Hanna, an SML servant since 2004, STSA member and trip organizer mentioned the progress of the previous mission trip and encouraged the attendees to support the upcoming trip through prayers and donations to the families that they will visit.
Fr. Anthony concluded the presentation with a warm thank you to the Care 4 Needy Copts team and Marsil for putting together this Mission Day awareness.
Following the presentation, the church members held an Egyptian reception, which allowed the congregation to stop by our table and speak with us one-on-one.
They committed to supporting the upcoming trip through financial contributions or spreading the word to others.
Our visit to STSA was sure a success. The church’s warm welcome and eagerness to prepare for its December 2024 mission trip created an encouraging and inspiring atmosphere for our partnership.
We left the church deeply grateful and excited for their upcoming trip.
