Restoring Hope & Joy at the Summer 2026 Retreat in Hurghada for Widows & their Children

Between July 11 and August 1, 2026, Care 4 Needy Copts (USA), along with The Shepherd and Mother of Light (SML) Service in Egypt, hosted a summer retreat in the coastal city of Hurghada. Centered around the powerful slogan:
“God Can” (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13), the retreat delivered spiritual renewal, fun, and dignity to 2,200 beneficiaries across 7 retreat waves, reaching families from Cairo all the way to Aswan. The retreat served widows, their children, and individuals with special needs, giving them a rare and precious haven from overwhelming poverty. Behind these numbers are deeply personal stories of renewal.

Mariam, a mother from Minya battling cancer and heart disease, shared her emotional testimony of how this service restored her family. Living in extreme poverty in a home made of straw and reeds, Mariam felt crushed by hardship and illness. “I was living in a nightmare, a body without a soul, just waiting to die,” Mariam wept. “Then God touched our lives through SML and Care 4 Needy Copts. They rebuilt our home, provided food and medicine, and treated us with true dignity, calling me ‘Set El-Kol’ (the lady of all). At the retreat, the servants showered us with love and cared for my children. They brought our spirits back to life!”

For Mariam and thousands of others, the Hurghada retreat was far more than a vacation; it was a tangible experience of Christ’s love and honor. We extend our deepest gratitude to every donor and volunteer whose faithful generosity turned despair into hope, proving that no matter the trial, “God Can”
