Mission trip to Egypt 2025

This October, a group of ten C4NC supporters went on a life-changing journey to the heart of Egypt’s villages.

The trip was overflowing with compassion, hope, open hearts, and listening ears.

On their first day, participants met families in need, heard their powerful stories, and witnessed their daily realities firsthand. Together, they assessed living conditions to create lasting change in their quality of life.

Another day was spent at the adult literacy centers, where mothers proudly demonstrated their progress in reading, writing, and basic math. Their achievements showcase the life-changing power of education.

One of the most touching moments from the literacy center was meeting Magda whose story was inspiring. Just nine months ago, she couldn’t read or write. With determination and the help of a dedicated teacher, Mrs. Mariam, she learned both—and that learning opened doors she never imagined possible. Today, Magda has opened a small hair salon in her home.

What moved the group even more was hearing how her teacher continues to support her. Once a month, Mrs. Mariam visits—not just to encourage her, but to sit in her chair and have her hair done. That small act carries such meaning: a teacher who once taught her letters, now celebrates her student’s success as a client and friend.

At one of the SML kindergarten centers, the team enjoyed engaging with the children and distributing pencil cases with school supplies. Seeing the joyful laughter of the children reminded us why our mission is crucial.

On the day the group visited families with income-generating projects, the team was inspired by the strength of the parents who strive to support their families and strengthen community resilience. Take, for example, the visit to Heba’s small grocery store located in the busy area of Matai. Heba opened the store to support her three young daughters after the death of her husband five years ago.

Upon arrival, Heba greeted the group with a warm smile despite the difficulties she has faced in life. Her spirit radiated joy. Heba insisted on preparing a special treat for everyone—cotton candy. With pride and care, she spun the sugar into soft clouds and handed them to everyone. Her generosity was deeply touching. Here was a woman who had so little, yet she gave with such an abundance of heart. To honor her kindness & support her business, our team made several purchases from her store, including bags of tea, snacks, and drinks.

The journey also included exploring ancient churches and monasteries, deepening the group’s appreciation of the region’s rich heritage. These sacred sites serve as powerful reminders of centuries of faith and devotion.

This experience reinforced the resilience of these communities and the importance of sustained support and education. Everyone returned inspired and committed to continue helping families to create a brighter future.
